My Follower Count Isn't Working Properly

  Hi – my follower counter has not been advancing properly for a while now. Every so often it’ll just stop adding new followers, even though they’re signing up. I recently got stuck somewhere around 1,055 followers and while I kept receiving notifications that new followers had signed up, the counter didn’t change. Then in one fell swoop, the counter jumped into the 1,070’s. Over the last few days I’ve received more than 10 new followers, yet my counter goes up by 2 or 3, then back down by 2 or 3.

  Hi there,

  Currently, it looks like your subscriber numbers have jumped up from the numbers you mention. The subscriber number shown on your stats page is not immediately updated when someone follows your blog. So, although you may get an email notifying you of a new follower, the stats page may not be fully updated for 24 hours. Does that make sense?

  Have you noticed any missing from the list?

  What I notice is that I had roughly 1,085 when Howard Cable signed up, 14 followers ago, but the counter has gone backwards twice since then. Not sure what to suggest … Nicole is follower #1,091. I suppose we can watch and see what happens. But I’ve been watching and the numbers are most definitely off.

  Also, I get new followers appear in my stats that I was never notified of. This happens often.

  Hi again – OK, my counter is definitely still screwed! Earlier in this thread I said that Nicole was follower # 1,091. I’ve had 12 followers sign up since then, yet my counter reads 1,099 when it should read 1,103.

  Proof positive. Please let me know how WordPress can fix this incessant problem.
