My followers are getting multiple email postings of the same blog post

My followers are getting multiple email postings of the same blog post and those posts are now showing the last three posts as well. Why is this happening and how can I stop it before they get upset and stop following me?

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Will you please provide a couple of usernames for those WordPress.com bloggers who did receive the multiple as well as a couple of email addresses for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts? The software will redact ie. HIDE the email addresses so only Staff can see them. After you do that subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting. -

Yes, if you can provide a few usernames of followers who are receiving multiple emails of your posts, that would help a lot. In the interim, please make sure that they have their desired subscription settings properly set up:

The only blogger I know that is getting the multiple emails is me and my reader settings are set to Off for new posts and Off for new comments. I receive the emails because I monitor my posts and I did that by clicking the Follow button. I receive them at:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
I have done nothing to trigger this, no change in settings.
The only other follower that I have heard from is my brother and I believe he used the follow button as well is receiving multiple emails to his gmail account:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
Neither of us have made any changes to our settings. They were working normally until about a month ago.

I’ve looked around and I can see that you’ve only recently followed your blog. How many emails have you received other than the confirmation email that we sent over?
I also checked on your brother’s email address and it seems that he isn’t currently subscribed to your blog. Can you please verify his email address if you gave me the correct one? You may check your list of subscribers here:

I checked with my brother, I had forgotten all about feedburner. It turns out he and I are subscribed to my blog via feedburner.google.com
His email address is correct, but I’m guessing the problem lies in feedburner.

Yes, being subscribed to Feedburner is known to cause emails being sent multiple times. You may disable this by visiting to your feed in http://feedburner.google.com and clicking on Publicize -> Email Subscriptions. Scroll below and press the “Deactivate” button on the right. Cheers!

To clarify, my previous instructions are for deactivating email subscriptions for the Feedburner feed altogether.
If you wish to instruct your users to unsubscribe from the feed, please ask them to check the emails they received from Feedburner and click on the Unsubscribe link below the message. You may also remove the users manually by logging into your Feedburner account and going to Publicize Tab > Email Subscription > Subscription Management.
