my followers are not receiving emails of posts

    Hello!

    My readers are having a lot of trouble with the +Follow button. They are either not receiving the confirmation emails, or even if they do, they are not receiving email notifications of new posts. Can you tell me how I can fix this? I have tried troubleshooting their gmail preferences (spam, IPOP, etc), and their mail system is not the problem.

    Hi!

    Can you let me know the email addresses of several users that are reporting issues? Please note, the email address will appear redacted in the forums, but it will be visible to staff.

    Sure! Here’s a few:
    (email visible only to moderators and staff) (subscribed, but not getting notices, I had to send an invitation to get the subscription to go through)
    (email visible only to moderators and staff) (cannot get confirmation email)
    (email visible only to moderators and staff) (subscribed, but not getting notices)
    (email visible only to moderators and staff) (cannot get confirmation email)

    They seem to be able to subscribe if I send an invitation, but I have yet to confirm if they are also properly receiving notification emails that way.

    For Maureen, they’ve blocked us from sending them any emails. They can clear this up by entering their email address here:

    Status

    They’ll receive further details on how to login and manage their email settings.

    For usajane, can you ask them to check their Social Tab?

    For jlee, they were sent your latest post “Getting What You Want is Scary” on 2/18/15. Did it land in spam by chance?

    For jabbott, can you ask them to check their spam filter? I just resent an invite.

    Sure thing Jeremy, I’ll reach out to my people. Hopefully this will help them! I tried to work through the spam issues with them and couldn’t find the emails, but I will walk them through it again.

    Hi there! It’s still not working…

    (email visible only to moderators and staff) is now not listed as a follower at all (she was last week). I have now tried to re-subscribe her, but have not received the confirmation email (i’m logged into her email). I have done this 6 times and nothing is coming up. The message is not sent to Spam, and wordpress is not blocked in the gmail settings. I do not know what to do. please advise, she’s making me crazy!

    additionally- i just sent her an invitation to follow and THAT email went through immediately. How do we make sure the subscribe widget and +follow button are working correctly for others?

    The user email you mention (maureen.sprunger) has still blocked WordPress.com from sending them emails. This is a block they’ve put in place at WordPress.com, not at Gmail. Can you have them try the following?

    1. Enter their email address in the Manage Your Subscriptions box here:

      Status

      They should receive an email that looks identical to this with a big URL in the middle:

      http://d.pr/i/yoXB

    2. Open that URL in your browser
    3. Click “Settings” in the upper right-hand corner
    4. Uncheck this option:

      http://d.pr/i/16ST7

    Let me know once they’ve done that!
