My fonts have changed by themself…HELP

  • Unknown's avatar

Im quite new to this, but last night the font in my blog was fine and when i logged in this morning all the font has went weird (i.e not how it should be displaying).

Im very computer literate and have not tampered with any HTML, I usually do all my posts in the visual editor.

Ive attached a screenshot below to show you what I mean. The left window is what the font looks like on my blog, and the text next to it on the right is how it should be. Some of the headings seem different and the main body text looks as if its lost some of the black definition it has when I go into the editor. I dont understand why its done this overnight or how to fix it..

    Any ideas anyone ?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I changed my test blog to Modularity Lite and then compared the blog linked to your username to my test blog and the fonts are identical. I’m using Firefox 7.

Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.
    http://browsehappy.com/

Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?

Note that the scree shot is not clear enough for me to discern anything from it. If you are referring to a blog other than the one linked to your username then we will require an active link to it starting with http:// Also do you have a custom design upgrade and have you edited the fonts on the blog in question or not?

Hi timethefi, I will try clearing the cache, I did clear all the cookies and everything from browser but it doesnt seem to have done the trick. Im also using the newest version of Internet explorer and Firefox. Both web browsers show the same font change :|

the blog its happened to is http://itechscotland.wordpress.com/

Also in the ‘installing windows to a usb stick’ article, steps 7,8,9 seem to be going up the right hand side of the image and yet yesterday (or since i published it) the formatting has been normal and fine.

Try this please because I loaded Mystique on my test blog and I don’t see what you see at all.
Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

Now, starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then click “Update Post.” Check your blog and see if it is back to normal.

Ive done that and no difference. I decided to copy some text from my blog and from inside the editor screen and it is different right enough.

The font displaying on my blog is ‘Myriad Pro’ and the font in the editor is ‘Georgia’

The Myriad Pro font has now spread to my twitter feed on my blog and also the ‘subscribe to itech’, ‘recent post’ and ‘categories’ sections. Have no idea why its done this.

However when I check http://itechscotland.wordpress.com on my blackberry, the font is Georgia :S

    Strange, but true ! :-(

I suggest that you contact Staff with all your details. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

Thanks I will do that :-)

I did find a temp solution that puts the font back to Georgia in my posts (although it only changes it in my posts, not on the sidebar where my twitter feed is)

I basically had to open a post in editor, select the HTML and type in the following code: <div style=”font-size:100%;font-family:georgia;”>POST TEXT HERE</div>

Doing this changed my font back, however, I dont see why I should have to do this with every new post I do from now on, it was working and displaying fine last night. The font also displays fine on my phone, that includeds the font in the sidebar/twitter feed etc.

So it is a weird one, but I guess my temp fix will do for now.

Each themes is coded to display specific fonts. These are 3 ways to change fonts on WordPress.com blogs.

    (1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

    (2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2

    (3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Note: Any font changes to font families, colors and size in the blog title, tagline, post titles, page titles, categories, and widgets cannot be done without CSS editing.

    a) We can’t tell what’s wrong with your blog unless you remove the temporary fix you added in the HTML editor.

    b) The post editor is the same no matter what the theme, so what font the editor displays is irrelevant to what your actual blog does.

    c) The default font in Mystique isn’t Georgia anyway, it’s Trebushet MS. So (unless you’ve got the Custom Design upgrade and have changed the default font), if you were seeing Myriad Pro on your computer, you should also your browser preferences and make sure you’ve set your browser to display webpages with their original fonts instead of other ones.

    d) Steps 7,8,9 (and others) “seem to be going up the right hand side of the image” because the images are left-aligned, which means text-wrap is asked for. For left-aligned images but no text-wrap, you must set the alignment to none, not left.

Sorry, disregard c above: Myriad Pro is the default font of the theme (but it’s not a common font, so the browser will revert to Trebuchet MS if Myriad Pro isn’t installed in the viewer’s computer).

Sorry for late reply. Its probably something wrong with my browser. When i look at my blog from a PC at my parents house, it looks fine. Using Firefox on Ubuntu on my laptop also displays it fine.

Im just going to keep using the HTML for now.

Whats important is that people reading my blog will see it how it should be and not in the tiny/faded font im seeing without adding the HTML. So thanks for your help folks.
