My Freaky Formatting Problem

    Hi folks. I have a question about formatting and spacing.

    I wrote this a few weeks ago about Will Smith http://jeffwinbush.com/2008/07/03/will-smith-its-good-to-be-the-king/

    and as you can see there is no spacing between the paragraphs. I have edited it several times and tried to double-space between paragraphs.

    Finally, I got frusrtated, <b>deleted</b> the entire post and retyped it again. The same thing happened again except the last three paragraphs DID format properly.

    When I use the K-2 Lite theme, the spacing between paragraphs works fine. Right now I’m using the Quentin theme and the spacing is once again crammed together.

    I’m baffled. Anyone have a suggestion.

    What did you use to write the post? What browser and version are you using? Did you copy and paste from another program?

    The reason I ask is that the formatting is not at all what one would expect to see in a post. Each paragraph is wrapped in the following.

    <div class="endquote"> </div

    I changed one of my test blogs to Quentin and and did a test post and looked at that post and others and the posts are wrapped in “P” tags as they should be.

    One thing I would suggest is to open the post for edit, and then click on the far right hand icon on the tool bar, which will bring up the extended tool bar. Highlight all the text in the post, and then from the format pulldown on the left of the extended tool bar, select “paragraph” and see if that will fix the issue.

    Dear Thesacredpath,

    I don’t think I cut and pasted the post from any other source. I’ m using Firefox 3.0.

    I’ll give your suggestion a try and see if that helps.

    I have been battling the freaky format thing too….I post a lot of photos with text in between. I have a PC and write it all first in word and then paste and then add the photos. I try to put in bloque quotes and space the paragraphs well so they text wrap and visually lay out well…I cannot collapse the paragraphs together!!!!….I have tried saving after every change but it jusmps back after I do on the site…very frustrating….I was having issues with tags and got that solved and I am wondering if doesn’t have to do with that….I even did work on it from my laptop to see if there was something in my desk top but no go…

    this is the latest offending post…I can’t bring my self to post more until I get it in hand…any ideas?

    Thanks sacred for a quick reponse…i am checking it out now…I have done some reading and have seen that most use notepad with no problems, I am curious to know what you use?

    Any plain text editor will work.

    On the extended tool bar in the wordpress editor there is a “paste from word” icon (white square with a “W” on it). If you click on that, and then paste the Word text into the window that pops up and click insert, it typically works pretty well at stripping out the offending code, but it isn’t fool-proof. Sometimes it will still leave some stuff that can muck things up.
