  my free blog site wont publish and it asks me to pay for it annually even though in the beginning I chose the one name that was free.

  Hi there, first of all make sure you have confirmed your email address.

  If you are still not able to launch your WPcom site for free, please look towards the bottom of the page where it asks you if you want to upgrade. You should see there the free address you chose and the option to skip the purchase. Click on that.

  If you are not seeing that, please grab a screenshot and upload it to your site’s Media Library. We’ll then flag this thread for Staff assistance.
