She said shedid not get an error msg because the page won’t load or is blank.
However, I will email her to double check…

  • @lozzafun,

What browser and browser version are you using? You can use this link to check:

    http://supportdetails.com/

Please also check on that page if it says JavaScript is enabled. If it’s disabled, that’s the problem. If you re-enable JavaScript, everything should load again.

    http://enable-javascript.com/

It’s also possible that a browser extension is blocking JS code on the site from loading. Ad-blockers and anti-malware extensions are the usual culprits, so try disabling any such extensions you have active in your browser.

Lastly, please check if the pages load if you use a different browser. If they don’t load in a different browser either, it’s possible it’s a connection issue. In that case, please unplug your modem/router for a few seconds to reset it, and if possible check if it’s any different via a different internet connection.

Hi… Java script is enabled and I was using Firefox 54… I never used windows but tried it and EVERYTHING WORKS in Windows… Guess I will just switch to windows…

Regarding your mention of ad-ons and mal-ware – I was waiting forever for pages to load so I went through computer contents and located a BUNCH which I un-installed.. I did this just before my computer trouble started…

What prompted me to do this was the continuous flashes at bottom of my screen that stated ‘google handshake with dozens of site’… I then uninstalled google chrome as trouble shooting sites were identifying it as the culprit… ALSO something kept ‘turning off my computer protection’….

I am able to access Word press through windows, so I will continue to use it…. Guessing that google chrome is the cuprit in this case??…. Thanks to all for you assistance….. Deb

Windows is not a browser. Do you mean Internet Explorer?

It sounds like you might have some malicious browser toolbars installed. Those often come bundled with free software and can hijack your browser settings.

Please consider downloading Malwarebytes anti-malware and run a scan on your computer. The free version is sufficient for this. That should remove any hidden browser toolbars you might have installed.

For Firefox you can also try a complete refresh. In Firefox, click on the menu icon, click the question mark, and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled. When prompted, select the option to refresh Firefox. That will essentially re-install Firefox on your computer without any extensions, toolbars, or bookmarks added. You should be able to restore your bookmarks afterwards.

    yes…. I meant explorer…
I have done a right click, a left click on every Foxfire icon I can find and NONE are giving me the question mark or the option to restart with add ons disabled….???… Why can’t I find this option???

  • You won’t find that by right-clicking. You need to open the Firefox menu, via this icon:

Kokkieh… I clicked on Firefox icon, in menu, finally found the ?, read it and attempted to apply , your instructions – “select Restart with Add-ons Disabled. When prompted, select the option to refresh Firefox”…

I went through all the options under every tab… I never found the option to ‘reload without add-ons‘…. Maybe the updates are somewhat different because my OS is older, windows 7 ?

  • You should find that option under Help in the menu as well. But Windows 7 still supports the newest version of Firefox – I have Win 7 myself and can see the option there.

The alternative is to completely uninstall and then reinstall FF. I just suggested the Refresh option as that’s more or less automatic. But running a malware scan might have the bigger impact here, I think.
