my front page is static but it still asks for comments
-
Hi I’m trying to get rid of any mention of “comments” on my front page. I don’t want the static front page to ask for or display comments. I thought static meant that it didnt do that. I already set it as a static front page. It says it is. Is there any way I can get rid of the comments box?
thanks,

Hey there.
If you go into your “edit pages” and go to edit your front page, scroll down beyond the box with your text in it. Toward the bottom, you’ll find an option for allowing comments. Just uncheck that. It should fix your problem, I believe.
Hope this helps. :-)

Two issues:
(1) Removing the words can only be done through CSS editing and I’m not sure if that will result in removing only the words or all the metadata.Removing the commenting function is done here > Settings > Discussion and by closing comments on each and every post and page you create and publish.
(2) Blogs are structured to be post driven. They feature the dynamic and most recent content on the front page. The most recent content in posts on the front page is where the vast majority of all traffic and Google juice flows to in a blog.
When you change that by creating a static front page your blog, and restructure the blog so pages which are meant to be used for content that rarely if ever changes dominate the blog will suffer negative consequences.
If what you want is a mock website then your answer to all the following questions will be “yes”. But if what you want is a fully functional blog all of your answers to the questions will be “no”.
- Is it true that you don’t want your most recent blog post and their content to be discussed by your readers on the front page where that discussion gets search engine attention?
- Is it true sure that you don’t you want your content in your posts to be backlinked to by other bloggers?
- Is it true that you don’t care whether or not your blog achieves a PageRank?

A clarification: Changing the Discussion setting applies to all posts and static pages published after the change – doesn’t affect already published ones. Changing the option in the post or page editor overrides the Discussion setting.
