My frontpage and archive feeds show entire post, not summary

  • Unknown's avatar

I have two different blogs: mwilsonresearch.wordpress.com and chrismichaelsauthor.wordpress.com. On both of them, I have lengthy posts, and would like to show only the summary in the front page and archive page feeds. Under “reader settings” on both sites, I have “show summary” checked, but it makes no difference. My themes are fictive and modularity lite. I have seen other wordpress.com users who show summaries and not the entire post on these pages. What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

The “Summary” setting in the Reading Settings applies to how your posts are displayed in feeds and in new post emails. The summary setting means only the first part of posts will appear in those settings.

The easiest way to accomplish what you’re looking for is through the use of the More Tag as explained here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

Using that tag, you can choose where you would like your content to be split.

Let me know if you need anything else!
