My google domain expired – is there a backup of my wordpress contect
-
Hello, A volunteer at our organization didn’t renew our google domain and it is now too late to re-register that domain as someone else bought it. I was hoping to add a new domain to our existing WordPress account but it appears all of our WordPress content is gone. Is there a way to recover this content?
I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

Hi there, was the site hosted here on our services? If you’ll send the old domain, we can check.
If you had a different host, please reach out to that host to see if the content still exists. Then you’d need to change the URL:

I think we were hosted on WordPress. http://www.buffalosugarcity.org since the URL is gone I am unsure of how to check who the host was in December. If you have any idea please let me know,
Thank you,

Hi Aimee,
Your domain wasn’t hosted here with us on WordPress.com, so I’m afraid we don’t have your content.
Based on the DNS history for your domain at https://completedns.com/dns-history/, it looks like you were hosted through https://www.rackspace.com/, so if anyone still has a backup of your site’s data, they’re the people who will have it.
Just to clarify, your site was built with the WordPress software, but that’s not the same thing as WordPress.com where you’re posting now. We’re a hosting provider for that software, but in this case you didn’t have WordPress hosted with us, but with Rackspace.
If Rackspace no longer has any backups of your content, you might also be able to recover some of it from the Internet Archive – it looks like they have recent snapshots of your site at https://web.archive.org/web/2021*/http://www.buffalosugarcity.org
Those are just static snapshots of your site over time, though, not an actual hosted version of your site. So there’s no way to export or download your content from the Internet Archive. But if Rackspace can’t help you, you’ll at least be able to copy-paste your content into a new site and get it back that way.
