My header does not display correctly on other computers.
-
Hi folks. I have recently attempted to set up a blog for my photography. I have used the theme Pictorico and included my own header. However, although the header is displayed correctly on my laptop, on some other PCs/laptops/phones/tablets it is being cut off at the sides. I am presuming it has to do with screen resolution although I am in no way computer-savvy enough to be certain. Is there a way of having it fit all screens, at least enough so as to display the content?
Thanks in advance. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Can you make a screenshot of the cut off header image that you’re seeing? (You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy.)
It would also help to know the details about the operating system, browser, and screen resolution where you’re seeing the problem. You can visit this page to grab those details on any devices where you see the issue: http://supportdetails.com/
Those details will help me investigate the issue you’re having with that header image. :)

Thanks for your reply Rachel. I’ve uploaded a snapshot taken from a friends PC into my media library and there is also an image of how it should look there too. You can see where the C and the Y are cut off as well as the end images.
I’m on Windows 7 using a HP Presario CQ56 Notebook PC
Browser is Google Chrome
My screen resolution is 1366 x 768
Hope that’s everything and thanks so much for your help.

Hi John,
Thanks so much! Just one more question for you, if it’s not too much trouble: Do you happen to know the browser’s window size in that screenshot you took?

The resolution for that PC is 1024 X 768
I’ve also uploaded another screenshot from another friend’s PC where the header is cut off at the top and the bottom. The resolution for that one is 1680 x 1050.

Thanks for those details! It looks like the Pictorico theme you’re using tries to resize the header image to fit on different sized screens, but with certain screen sizes it ends up cutting off the image instead of resizing it to fit.
I’ve reported that to our theme developers so they can take a look. Thanks again for letting us know about the issue!

Hi there,
I heard back from our theme developers, and they let me know that this is how the Pictorico theme is designed to work. Here are some additional details they gave me:
The best custom header images for Pictorico are decorative background images. The image will be cropped for small viewports (not scaled down) to fit the available area fixed for height and width. This means header images that work best with this theme are abstract or decorative images.

Ah, I see. No worries I’ll just choose another one, trial and error I suppose. Thanks so much for your time and help it is very much appreciated.
Cheers,John
