my header image won't load

The customizer won’t update my header image on the live page, despite displaying that it has set and saved the image.

Hello there! It appears as if the header you uploaded is the wrong dimensions for your theme.
The suggested width is 1230 pixels. Suggested height is 576 pixels.
If you can adjust the image accordingly, it should appear correctly on your site. If you do not have photo editing software, you can follow cropping instructions listed here:

All of the times I uploaded the header image I used the cropping tool built into WordPress to crop the image to the appropriate dimensions and the image was even saved and accessible within the uploaded image options for the header at the appropriate size. Not once did any of these images display in the theme.

None of the images I see in your Library have the dimensions 1230 x 576. Perhaps I missed it? If you send me a link to it, I’ll work with that file and see if I can get it to appear for you!

The theme did not make clear that cropping the image to the correct aspect ratio would not make the image display. If the pixels have to be that exact measurement, why does it say suggested?
Either way, I just uploaded an image that has enough pixels to be cropped to those exact dimensions of 1230 x 576 but it does not seem to let me crop it. I have already resized the image to have the correct width of 1230, but the when I save the cropping to 576, it doesn’t seem to be updating. I would definitely appreciate your help with this and maybe some advice about images in the media library and how best to understand what the requirements of a theme really are specifying. I understand that there are rules that are built into the code, but it would be great to hear some of your experience getting comfortable with them, since this has been really hard-going so far, unlike the squarespace templates I have used in the past.

I am seeing an altogether different header now. If you’d prefer to stick with the current text header, great. However, if you’d like, I can still help with the old image. Just let me know and I’m happy to assist. I no longer see it in your media library, so re-upload it and send me a link, if you’d like. I can try to work with the image.
I agree — if it says it’s a suggestion, then it really should be a suggestion, not a rule. I will check in with the theme developers to see what’s up. Some themes are more flexible with their “suggestions” than others, and some have simpler setups. I’m more than happy to walk you through any trouble spots.
