I put the photo back on. But how would I get hold of the original background url? Any suggestions? Thanks.

When I enter that in #page, the background appears but it’s not inline with the text. It’s still set for the original settings. When I click on the authors original css, I get the following.
#page {display: block; width: 750px; background: url(images/bg_main.gif) top repeat-y; text-align: left; margin: 0 auto;}
#header {position: relative; float: left; display: block; width: 750px; background: url(images/bg_header.gif) top no-repeat; min-height: 355px; padding: 0;}I just tried changing themes and switching back again to see if it resets, but it didn’t work.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks. -
In your CSS, you have the background centered, and it needs to be “left” as show in the original CSS (between scroll and top):
background:transparent url(http://s3.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/ocean-mist/images/bg_main.gif) repeat-y scroll left top;That brings the image back over and aligns it correctly on the left side, but as I said, with the wider sidebar the images is going to have to be increased from 750px wide to 1010px (the width you have declared in #page.
You will also have to increase the width in #header and in #mainpic. Note that the existing width in #mainpic is 736px, not 750px like in #header, so you will have to reduce the 1010px by 14 (996px) so that things will align correctly.

I inserted this into page. And yes it is aligned. I will increase the images later. This link you gave before looks fixed, http://s3.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/ocean-mist/images/bg_main.gif I can’t seem to increase the width of it. The text in the side bar is going off the light blue into the dark blue. I am trying stuff to change it, but nothing seems to work. Hope u don’t mind helping me further. Thanks.

Because you have increased the width of the theme, you are going to have to either modify that image, or make a new one in Photoshop or another image editing program so that it will work with the wider sidebar. If you don’t have Photoshop, or do not know how to do that, I whipped this one out in Photoshop that you can upload and use.
There are a couple changes you are going to have to make to your CSS though for things to align right:
1. In ” #sidebar ” change “width” to 405px and add ” margin-right: 20px; “
2. In ” #sidebar .title ” change the “width” to 400px

That was very kind of you. I’m making good headway and it is starting to look good now. However another thing that was lost when I upgraded was the header background. Again it is not there in original stlylesheet. Any chance of finding it? Hopefully once this is done, further adjustments on the blog will be relatively easy. I hope!
