My Header Turned into an Icon

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I purchased a custom header recently for my blog but now I don’t know how to use it. I can tell there are certain blog themes that allow custom headers, which should allow me to hide the default header and install mine; however, I can’t find a premium blog that allows me to do this.

    The result is this: https://stormingteacup.wordpress.com

The header is too small. It’s more of an icon than an actual header. I would like a very minimal (mostly white) uncluttered theme and I would like to center this header in the middle.

It doesn’t have to be this particular theme, I’m open for ideas.

    Any ideas? :|

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there! You might want to give Penscratch a try:

    https://penscratchdemo.wordpress.com/

The demo shows a logo, but it also supports a custom header and might look nice with yours.

    Hi Kathy,

I really love how simple Penscratch is but I just wish the header goes on top of the menus. Also, since it’s free, it doesn’t give me a lot of options in terms of curating grid like posts or playing with features.

It’s so hard to find a minimal blog theme that is this clean but with premium features :/

    Thank you so much though!

  • You’re very welcome!

You can check out all free themes that support a custom header here:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/custom-header/type/free/

And all premium themes that support a custom header:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/custom-header/type/premium/

The only thing to watch out for is that some themes work better with a custom header that doesn’t include any text, since it may be used as a background image that gets cropped on smaller mobile screens. (For example, Twenty Thirteen.) If you need more information about any premium theme you might be considering, just let me know!
