My host is web based – no apache module

  I am using IX webhosting and I inquired about installing WordPress on my webstie. Their reply was:
  Your account is Windows-based so it doesn’t have Apache installed and does not support Apache module mod_rewrite. What do I do? Is there still any way to install it on my site? How different is the webbased wordpress than that which is installed on my own server?

  I think you need to ask at wordpress.org, because everyone here is hosted by WordPress.com and doesn’t have to deal with these questions. People at wordpress.org have gone through it.

  But when you post over at wp.org, do state what server you are running. That way folks don’t have to guess when they try to give you a solution.

  I have a feeling though that the answer is going to be “get a new host that knows what they are doing.”
