My import from TypePad not showing up

  I received an email saying the import of my TypePad blog was successful but I can’t find any of the posts and nothing is showing up anywhere. Where can I look?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  PS: I’ve tried importing it 5 times and gotten the “Import Successful” email each time, but nothing is there.

  I’m sorry you’re having trouble with your import.

  Did it come directly from TypePad or was it converted from a different type of export? Where was your site hosted before?

  I also see several imports. Did your export come in separate files or do you have just one file?

  I used TP2WP to convert it to an xml format.

  I attempted to import the same file several times.

  It’s possible the converter did not create a file our importers can read.

  I’m going to see if I can get the file you tried to import to work for you. In case I’m unsuccessful, where was your site hosted before, and what kind of export file do you have from there (before the conversion)?

  tp2wp recommended using something called readymade wordpress importer using a plugin, but after downloading it, I didn’t see where to find the plugin. The instructions for it were on a WordPress page but I can’t find it now. I hoped the standard import would work just as well.

  Okay, it looks like I was able to get the import to work!

  As it turns out, changing the file extension to .xml and then using the WordPress importer tool seems to have worked. Hopefully most or all of your content is there now.

  Also, you couldn’t find the place to use the plugin because we don’t allow users to install plugins on WordPress.com. But in this case it didn’t matter anyway. :)

  I got all but the the first 211 posts, and now I’m wondering if they somehow were not in the file that tp2wp generated for me. Can you explain to me how to convert this txt file to an xml file myself? I will just try that and see if I can get it all. I haven’t heard back from their tech support at all.

  That’s awesome! As far as converting it, there wasn’t any secret. I literally just changed the .txt to .xml and tried running it through the WordPress importer tool rather than the Movable Type/TypePad tool, and it worked. :)
