My import of an xml file has taken longer than 24 hours

Well, it’s a combination – the site is still up but, a while back, I made most of it not publicly viewable, turning most of the posts back into drafts.
Could the images that are still publicly viewable be salvaged?

They should be, yes, but there are circumstances in which our fix doesn’t work so I also recommend you make a backup of all your images before that site goes offline, in case you need to re-upload them manually to the new site.
I’ll let you know once I hear from our developers on whether they were able to import your images for you.

We were able to fetch a large number of images from your self-hosted site – your media library now contains over 1700 files – but for images referenced in 116 posts it returned an error, so those images couldn’t be fetched.
I can give you the WP-Admin edit links for those posts, if you want to go through them and re-upload those images manually. Also make sure, as I said before, that you get a full backup from your host before your site goes offline.

That’s great. Looking through it, I have the ones I need.
But while I have you here, could I get your help with something unrelated. I have an earlier iteration of this blog, before I moved to self hosting, on WordPress and I would like to delete it. Thing is, I can’t do this myself because I can’t remember the password and I think the blog is connected to an email account that I can no longer access.
If you look at the blog, you’ll see it’s me, it’s my name, the same name of the self-hosted site and the only post left is a link to the self-hosted site. If I send you the link, is it possible for you to delete it or make it possible for me to?

Only the owner of a site can delete it, so you’ll have to regain access to that account first.

I don’t have any of the verification info. I can’t remember what my username was for it , I can’t get into the email account that (I think) was associated with it. (I think that one was (email visible only to moderators and staff)) and, yeah . . . Looks like the last time I did anything with it was about 2009.
