My invitees are not receiving their invites
-
Invites are not being received by users – have sent some three times via the invite users page and the dates and times are recorded in the list of invitees but when I phone them up they have not received anything nor is any message in their junk mail? So what gives?

Hi there,
It may be that their email providers are rejecting the messages before it even reaches their inbox, or it could also be that the user themselves are filtering their messages in some way beyond just the spam folder and so are not seeing it.
As you can see from your list of invitees however, messages are being sent out. Others have already accepted your invitation so the messages are leaving our system.

Thanks for that and you could have a point but statistically 8 contacts out of 88 is suspiciously pointing to something else because there are many email providers involved here and I cannot accept that all the people in this sample have such severe settings. Also if all these different companies have decided to automatically block WordPress, this would seem like a fatal flaw and we are all wasting our money in buying upgrades for a failed system. All I want to do is ‘share my world with special friends’ as it says in your advertisng copy. So what do do you suggest? Have I wasted my time and money? If your messages aren’t getting past the first hurdle with email providers preventing their customers to receive mail, isn’t it up to you to arrange your prodcut to have some coverage? I am not impressed and await a constructive answer to this quickly.

Are you referring to the pending invites at https://gibardinbelize.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=wpcom-invite-users or on a different blog?
Also please send me the e-mail address of a few contacts that haven’t received the invite. I’ll remove the addresses from this thread afterwards.
Thank you.

I am talking about the invites on the past invitations page in ‘gibardinbelize’ not another site.
Are you sure this is a good idea putting these up on a public forum?Anyway here goes :-
[emails removed]
I have many more but have tried to select a variety of email service providers.
I hope this can be resolved soon.
Regards

Sorry for the delay. I’m going to confirm with out systems team to see if the invitation were sent or not.
I’ll come back to you once I know more.
Thank you!

We tested by sending an invite to ourselves and that worked fine. We also checked our logs and it seems the e-mail addresses you sent us earlier were accepted by the remote email server. At this point there is not much we can do on our end. Please try to resend your invitation and ask them to either whitelist @wordpress.com, or check all their e-mail (especially junk/spam) folders.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok I have given specific whitelist instructions to a selection of the many unsuccessful invitees and asked them to insert (email visible only to moderators and staff) where appropriate as this is the domain name that you will invite people under. The various email providers need a user name in the procedure and thus merely ‘@wordpress.com’ is not acceptable to them.
When they get the invite what will happen? Will they automatically be able to receive ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ or do they have to go through the process all over again to authorise the ‘gibardinbelize’ new user.
I am sorry but you should if you have any real sense of aftercare have set this out for me in the first place. There are clearly set requirements for arranging access by email and as your wordpress system is largely counterintuitive the ordinary user is left in a state of confusion – having paid for the privilege!
I assume that one can add more than 10 invitees to a private blog but that is not even clear. The fact that you haven’t said I can’t go above that number leads me to think perhaps I can or maybe not as the box on the invite page says you can enter 10 email addresses.
So ok this is a complaint and I want it sorted. This does not look good. -

In that case you might want to try (email visible only to moderators and staff). This won’t automatically add them, but it will make sure that they receive the invite e-mail.
