My latest post is not displaying properly – how do I fix this?

I am using the “Greyzed” theme and noticed in previews that halfway through the post I get a strange grey bar in the right margin of the post, and the white background shifts so that the composition area takes on a strange “L” shape. I tried breaking the post into pages, with no change, so I just left it as is for now…..can anyone help with this?

  • I’m not noticing the problem on your blog. Is this in regards to an unpublished Draft?

If so, can you tell us the title of the Draft?

Thanks for the reply, Macmanx. The blog post is “First, Do No Harm”. I have tried clearing my cache and it is still displaying strangely for me, and one of my regular commenters confirmed it. It looks normal to you?

It looks fine on the home page, but when you see the entire post with the permalink you will see the problem.

  • Ah, I see it now.

You had quite a few unnecessary div tags, and some were actually part of a sidebar. It looks like you may have copied this post from somewhere and brought those along with it.

Anyway, those are gone now, and you’re all back to normal.

    Okay, thanks!
I saw a help topic earlier that mentioned the <div> tags, but I had a hard time telling which ones should or shouldn’t be there and i didn’t want to mess it up further. The last source page for my article seemed to be having some issues of its own, so I re-blogged the whole thing (with citation) in case my readers had trouble accessing it……that must be where the problem originated.
Thank you SO much for your help – you’re a lifesaver!!!!!!!!!!!
    Sincerely,
    DC Martin

  • You’re welcome!

Div tags are a part of your post’s formatting, so not entirely critical.

When in doubt, it’s always a good idea to switch to the HTML editor tab, remove all of your div tags, and switch back to the Visual editor to re-do your formatting.
