My ‘leave a comment’ button is persistently missing

I have followed all of the steps listed in the help documentation. I’ve enabled comments on each page and post. I’ve also checked the box to allow people to post comments on news articles. In short, I’ve enabled everything I can find. Still no ‘leave a comment’ button. Can anyone help me?

Hi there – Blank Canvas is a new and unique theme. Because the entire theme starts completely blank, the way you enable comments is not like any other theme.
First, here is the general setup instruction guide for Blank Canvas: https://wordpress.com/theme/blank-canvas
Pay special attention to the section heading “Expanding Your Site”, which is near the bottom.
Within that section you will find that you can enable comments through Customize > Content Options
