  Hi, I’m very new to WordPress and just started using it today. I saw a place to add links with a description. I added three links thinking they would just show up on my main page of my blog, but they are nowhere to be found. Is there something else I need to do or something I’m missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  Yes, go to appearance > widgets and add the “links” widget to your sidebar. When you do, the theme-generated sidebar widgets (sample set) will disappear. Just add in the widgets that you want to have in your sidebar and drag them to arrange.
