My links have disappeared!!
-
I was trying to remove ONE Widget on my sidebar. Instead, all the links I still wanted, have also disappeared. This is not what I wanted or chose to do. I am frustrated how simple tasks are no longer easy to do here. Please help!! I really want my sidebar links back. And please explain how to go about removing only ONE section of links, in my case it was for, Knit Blogs only.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
The Links Widget can be configured to display all link categories or one link category. If you have multiple link categories (see the Link Categories support page) and want to omit one of them from the sidebar widget area and display all the others, there are at least a couple of possible ways of accomplishing that goal. Here’s two:
Method 1
a. Add the Links Widget to the sidebar widget area and choose the option “All Links” at “Select Link Category” in the widget’s customization options.
b. Delete the unwanted link category at your WP-Admin Link Categories page: https://veggiesyarnsandtails.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=link_category&paged=2.Method 2
Add a separate Links Widget for each link category that you want included in the sidebar, choosing a separate link category at “Select Link Category” for each widget. Omit the link category that you don’t want included. -
On reconsideration I must amend the above options (methods) somewhat.
If you delete a link category (such as “Knit Blogs”), as described in the Link Categories support page, then any link assigned to that category will automatically be moved to the site’s Uncategorized category, UNLESS it’s also assigned to another link category. So if the links in the deleted link category aren’t assigned to another link category and you don’t want the Uncategorized category to appear in the sidebar, then in method 1 you’d have to also delete each link in the deleted link category or in the uncategorized link category.
The above problem doesn’t present in method 2, because you can simply not select the uncategorized category for any of the widgets.

Thanks for trying to help. I took another look today and my links are still there, when I’m on the Dashboard but not On my actual blog. I understand what you are saying about deleting a category and these links no longer being visible. That’s fine for the Knit Blogs only, I wanted to delete those links and that ONE category. But the rest of links are showing up as being visible and they aren’t! I can’t find the page that gives the option to choose, make links visible but I don’t think this should be necessary as each link on the list I want IS showing up with assigned category and as visible. But in reality they are still not showing on blog.

If you had previously displayed all links with a single links widget and removed that widget, then that would explain why no links are presently displayed. I don’t find a links widget in your sidebar widget area, so apparently you removed it. So I would suggest starting with adding the widget back.

After adding the widget back to the sidebar widget area, then you may customize it. As I mentioned above, the only options are to display “All Links” (that is, all link categories) or one selected link category. If you choose “All Links,” then in order to omit those links in the Knit Blogs category, then you’d have to delete that link category. Also, as I mentioned above you might have to deal with links assigned to the deleted links category moving to the Uncategorized category.
