my links to media files aren't working

There are some things I have on my website where I used to have a link to open a PDF or Word Document in another page when a person clicked on it. They no longer work and I can’t figure out how to fix it. I uploaded the file to my media library, get the shortlink, and link it to the words that I want. All it does is redirect me back to the page, it doesn’t open the file. How do i fix this?

I have the similar problem on my site. I wish a staff member can address this problem. All my media file links don’t appear when you click on the blue text field. YouTube links still are working but not data files, .pdf and several spreadsheet files. The “blue text field is seen on the blog post but when clicked on the secondary screen doesn’t have the blue text link to click on hence the viewer cannot see the actual document.

Still no forum support? I would think the inability for clicking on linked WP stored media files would be a major issue. Is there anything which I should look for on my WP blog?
