my login shows my second unused blog, but not the primary blog
-
I have been going in circles trying to find out how to contact wordpress support directly about this. I have tried over 6 contact a happiness engineer links but keep getting sent back to the same page I started on. This has been extremely frustrating and I don’t understand how the brains that created such a wonderful blogging platform would set up fake contact links like this.
I sign up under my user name and the blog selected here does not show up in the blog drop down menu. The secondary blog at maingalleryvisalia2.wordpress.com is the only one to choose. I want to delete this blog, but I am afraid to because it is showing up as the only blog under my user name.
The only way I can edit the real blog is to open it directly in another browser window and then use one of the edit page links on a page, then I have access to the dashboard for the real blog.
This issue is not covered under any of the support topics that I could find.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m having the same problem. I want to delete what I have renamed my “shadow” blog because the home page keeps reverting to it.
I was in the middle of building a new post for my “real” blog–“Something About Love (A)”–when WP dumped me out and sent me to the shadow blog. Happily, I had saved what I had built to that point. But it has now been 30 minutes and all the usual tricks I’ve used to get me back to my (A) blog have failed–manage blogs, site stats, it shows the (A) blog dashboard link and I clicke on that, but nothing happens.
Okay WordPress, please make “us” happy so we can add our thanks to your hugs page and help us fix our secondary blog problems.
Thanks and best wishes, gratianads90
“Something About Love (A)” -
maingalleryadmin, you mentioned that you had contact us back on August 17th. Were we able to sort this out for you?
gratianads90, http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ appears to be the only blog on your account. What is the URL of the blog you can’t access?
-
Hi Macmanx,
No, it is not sorted out. As I mentioned above, my blog “Something About Love (A)” kept crashing today as I was building my post #18. My post is finally up there and I have two comments on it per the emails I received, but I can’t see the post again because it crashed and only the bad “Shadow blog” is appearning–even though I’ve selected “Something About Love (A)” as my “primary” blog.
The problem is that my account: gratianads90.wordpress.com somehow has two sub blogs:
1) “Something About Love (A)” that I want to keep because it is the most complete–and this blog is where I put all my new posts–that is, when my site let’s me get to it. It’s been up and down today as usual.
2) “Shadow Blog to be deleted” I’ve labeled it thus and put a post on it to say that this isn’t the “primary” blog; and they should go out and try to come back in;
How do I remove the “Shadow Blog” without losing my good blog “Something About Love (A)?
I thought that I might be able to transfer the Shadow blog to a new WP account I set up with my gmail address (gracefjohns). But, then I realized that it would transfer all of the gratianads90 stuff–and not merely the Shadow blog–so I didn’t confirm it.
I’m amazed that anyone can actually reach my blog “Something About Love (A)”, but the do occassionally. But, friends tell me that they are hesitant to visit or post anything to my blog lest it dissappear. So that doesn’t help me get readers..
Please help!
Gratiana (my hubby has the cell phone or I would give you that phone #) -
I don’t see anything but http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ on your account.
What is the URL of this “Shadow Blog?”
-
I have one blog URL http://www.gratianads90.wordpress.com
But the “shadow blog”–which has once again replaced my real blog just now when I logged in just now is showing.
My real blog “Something About Love (A)” is also on this same URL (www.gratiands90.wordpress.com). SAL(A) is the blog that I created initially and is complete with my posts through #18 as of today. And SAL(A) is the only blog I’m posting to now–however difficult it is for me t get to it and stay there. It crashed 7 or 8 times while I was building todays’ blog post #18. Argh!
I would be ever so grateful if you could help me. I spend a lot of time writing and building my posts with media–and crediting the media that I link to . So, it is disheartening to have my “Something About Love (A)” blog not be accessible all of the time.
I won’t try my tricks to try to get it back to “Something About Love (A)” so that you can see the bad “Shadow blog”.
I look forward to hearing back from you. I’m feeling optimistic since I’m actually able to email someone/you and get replies.
Best wishes, Grace (gratianads90)

Ok, so I’m bit stumped as to what’s going on here, what this “crash” is that you’re describing, and what you’re doing.
From what I can understand, http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ is the only blog you have, and it was once titled something else, and you want to change the content and title of it.
http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ is really just a domain, and you have full control over the content. You can delete and add posts, and change the title via the Settings section of your blog’s Dashboard.
Folks who are already subscribed to http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ will still be subscribed to http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ because http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ is still the blog’s URL (even if you change the title and content).

Hi MacManx,
Thanks for getting back to me again. Here’s my problem by the numbers:1) I have one wordpress site as you noted: http://www.gratianads90.wordpress.com
(This is not a problem, this is fine.)2) Unfortunately, WP thinks I have two blogs at this site:
my good and complete blog: “Something About Love (A)”
and
the bad “Shadow blog to be deleted”On the top right where my Gratiana name and rose gravatar are, I hover over it and it shows me various menu choices–such as manage blogs (that’s plural) and then shows me the two blog choices I mentioned above.
3) Now it get’s tricky, if I go to Manage Blogs, that takes me to the Global Dashboard and I see the two blogs listed. “Something About Love (A)” is my primary blog and is listed first (on top). The Shadow Blog to be deleted is listed second and appears below.
BUT, even though I have “Something About Love (A)” chosen as my primary blog, the “Shadow” blog keeps showing up in it’s place. And often when I choose “Something About Love (A)”, it takes me to the Shadow Blog choice.
4) Like I said, through trial and error, I’ve found a few “work arounds” that don’t always work–such as choosing Stats in the Global Dashboard and then I see the “Something About Love (A)” stats, so I click on the mini dashboard link next to the SAL(A) blog name, and sometimes he actually takes me to the SAL(A) blog. But most of the time it takes me to the shadow blog.
5) And, when I logged in here just now so I could reply to you, only the “Shadow blog to be deleted” blog turned up.
So, please tell me. When you visit my blog site, do you see a post #18? Or, do you see the Shadow blog that has a 9/22 and 9/24 note from me explaining my shadow blog problem to visitors and asking them not to subcribe there.
6) Since it took me a while to figure out what was going on–that there were two blogs called Something About Love and I had inadvertently built posts in one or the other. So, I renamed the incomplete blog “Shadow blog to be deleted” and the last real post I had put in there was Post #9 Guy of Gisborne–Broken Path, Broken Man uploaded Sept 2, 2011.
7) So, my “Something About Love (A)” blog needs to be preserved at all costs since it has my complete postings. It would just be nice to make sure that when anyone–including me–accesses http://www.gratianads90.wordpress.com that they see this “primary” blog–and not the shadow blog.
Please visit my blog and tell me what you see.
Thanks and best wishes, Gratiana (aka Grace Johns)

http://somethingaboutlove.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this blog. -
Nooooooo! I haven’t deleted it! There is a glitch!
My primary blog is “Something About Love (A)” found at http://www.gratianads90.wordpress.com
Somehow a secondary blog that I’ve retitled “Shadow blog to be deleted” keeps bumping my primary blog “off” when I try to access it–or even when I’m in the middle of building post on “Something About Love (A)”.
But, Maxmanc, one of the Happiness Engineers has been emailing me back and forth today trying to help me. No resolution yet. But I’m hopeful. I appreciate everyone’s patience while we work through this glitch.
I gather others are having a similar problem with their secondary blogs bumping their primary blogs.
So, please visit me at http://www.gratianads90.wordpress.com for my “Something About Love (A)”. I continue to make new posts to it and several people can reach it based on comments to it and my site stats.
Thanks and best wishes, Gratianads90

Ok, now I see what’s going on! But, I’d be at a loss for what the problem is. So, you have two blogs under your account:
http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ – “Shadow blog to be deleted by Grati soon”
http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ – “Something About Love (A)”
No, that wasn’t a typo, they’re both the same URL. Confused? Me too. 0_o
Both blogs have the same URL, but different IDs as far as our system is concerned.
At any time, did you attempt to change the URLs of these blogs? If so, from what to what?
-
Oh MacManx,
I think I love you! Just don’t tell my hubby. Ha!
I just logged on today to reply to you and I only see and access my good and complete blog “Something About Love (A)”!!!!!!!!! Yea!!!!!!!!!
So, you must have figured out a way to remove the pesky “shadow blog” that you said had a different ID, but was lurking on my account and interfering with it. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!
You’re a miracle worker!
Now I am completely happy and will enjoy using my WP blog site even more. And hopefully, this fix will not only allow more people to find my blog, but also they’ll be more willing to visit again and leave comments.
Feel free to put this thank you note on your Hugs links as another satisfied client.
Bless you! And thank you most kindly again!
Cheers x 100! Gratiana ;->
“Something About Love (A)” at http://www.gratianads90.wordpress.com -
Macmanx,
Dang! I spoke too soon. Although the shadow blog didn’t turn up when I logged in. When I clicked on comments, I was diverted to the Shadow blog.
Help!
Gratiana
-
No, haven’t figured it out yet. I’m still trying to piece this together.
At any point, did you change the URL of one of those blogs?
-
Hi Macmanx,
Thanks for your note. No, I never changed my URL. It’s always been GratianaDS90.wordpress.com
Yesterday, I briefly looked into seeing if I could “transfer” the shadow blog over to my gmail WP account (gracefjohns). But then I realized that the way the process worked was that it would transfer the whole gratianads90 site, rather than merely the shadow blog. So I didn’t confirm the transfer.
I want to stay at gratianads90.wordpress.com with my “Something About Love (A)” blog.
I’ve almost finished a new post for today (#19)–with one little typo to fix. But it won’t let me back in there. So, I’m going to step away from my laptop for a bit and come back in about 30 minutes and see if things are working better–and faster. WP sign in is slow or nonexistent today. Sighhhh.
Best wishes, Gratiana
-
Hm, now you have me confused again. Were these blogs ever under a different URL, or were they always under the same URL?
-
We got it!
From now on, http://gratianads90.wordpress.com/ should only display “Something About Love (A)”
You may need to clear your browser’s cache, but the Shadow Blog is now gone.
-
Hi Macmanx!
Thanks! I so appreciate your helpfulness in attending to and fixing my blog glitch. It was a pesky problem and it wouldn’t have gotten resolved without your help. And in a 24 hour period! Now that’s service! I am happy, Mr. Happiness Engineer.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the “shadow” blog has been sent to oblivion and now only my good blog “Something About Love (A)” remains.
I’m asking a few of my FB friends to see if they can link to my blog and make a comment. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks again and best wishes, Gratiana
