My media files (images) will not upload successfully. What should I do?
-
I have never had trouble with WordPress in the past, however recently I have had tremendous difficulty uploading images to one of my blog posts. As this is a business-related blog, this is negatively impacting my advertising stream and clients, whom are expecting to see images from their photography session on my blog, are disappointed.
Please note that these image files are the same size and format as I usually upload. Also, I have tried uploading the images from more than one computer (MacBook Pro laptop and PC desktop running Windows 8). Also, I have tried to upload these images at least once every day for the past four days, so I do not think this is a volume problem, with too many users accessing WordPress at the same time.

Jordanc19992: I am not having problems with images showing up in one location but not another. Rather, I am having problems simply uploading images in the first place.

Since I am not having that problem, it is difficult for me to offer any suggestions. Perhaps consider starting your own discussion topic, since your question is not closely related to mine, and see if other members have any ideas?
Good luck!

@flashbackphotoelaine
Please work through what follows and report back.1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/safari-ipad-clear-cache.htm
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. Try using another browser.
5. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(c) And what any error reports you receive state. -
Hi there,
Thank you for suggestions. Like I mentioned already in my initial discussion post, I have been successfully uploading images to my WordPress blog from this computer and the Google Chrome browser for more than a year. I am quite certain that the problem is with WordPress, not my system.
Regardless, I did try using alternate internet browsers (without success). I also tried clearing the cache, and enabling the settings you mentioned. None of this worked. My clients have been waiting for their images to be uploaded for more than a week now, and I am not happy with this situation.
Do you have any other ideas?
Elaine

I am having the same problem. Nothing uploads beyond. I have tried using Safari Version 5.1.10 and then Firefox but they won’t upload and it is the same for all three blogs I have with wordpress.com
My blogging has ground to a halt. I too am certain that the problem lies with wordpress.

Paullamarra: I am glad to hear this is not only a problem for me. I have tried three different internet connections (my home, my university, and a friend’s home), and the problem has not resolved itself.
I am not happy that there is no way to contact WordPress directly.
If this problem continues, I will have to find an alternate blog host, which means losing all of the progress I have made with my blog, and causing my clients to be confused since my WordPress blog website address has become known to them.

Your first thread was tagged by me for Staff 2 hours ago and they deal with threads in datestamp and timestamps order ie. first posted – first served. Posting here is not in your best interest. Posting into more than one thread on any issue can cause your request to fall through the cracks. Please return to https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/media-not-uploading-1?replies=6#post-1553804 -
Bonjour,
je rencontre le même problème, et quand j’arrive à charger mes photos, c’est très long. Y a t-il un moyen d’optimiser le chargement des photos sur la bibliothèque?
merci par avance

Hi Elaine,
I’m sorry you’ve been having trouble uploading your images. Is this happening for all images you try to upload, or only certain ones? (You may want to test it by uploading a very small image to your media library, to see if that works.)
Also, are you using the Add Media button in the post editor, or are you uploading the images from Media > Add New in your dashboard? Please give both methods a try to see if one works better for you. Also, you can try out both the Multi-file and Browser Uploaders when you upload the images.
If none of those methods works for you, please let me know and I’ll be happy to continue troubleshooting this issue with you.
@ juliedjy – We have information about optimizing images here: Image Optimization
If you still have trouble with this, please start a new forum thread with your question and we can help you there. Thanks!
