My Moderation panel so I can delete Prostitution email
-
I have done this before but have forgotten how I do it. I get email from all over the work that state they want me to ‘moderate (example: [Lee Law Group] Please moderate: ‘Petitioning a Prior Marijuana Conviction Under Proposition 64’). However, all these are are ads or emails on online SEX!!
There is a way to log in somewhere, chose moderation or something I am not sure, and I can trash these.
QUESTIONS:
1) WHERE can I go to do this. Once you tell me where to go I will know what t do. Can anyone help? -
Hello, you can configure and moderate who can comment and how you receive comments by going to Settings>Discussions

Hi ggmoyo,
Thanks for your answers. But I must be dense because I still do not see how t fine the place I need to be. As Stated, I have done this before, but now I am drawing blanks. My Questions are:
1. Do I log into WordPress.com or WordPress.org to get to the ‘settings/discussion’ area? I think it is WordPress.com because that si where I left the forum Question, but when I log into WordPress.com I cannot find ‘Settings/disussion’.2. HOW do I find (navigate to) to the ‘settings/discussion’ area in whichever the site is. (.com or .org)? THANKS, E

Is your website hosted on WordPress.com or somewhere else (like Bluehost)?
If it’s on .com then you can get to the moderation options by following:
1. Go to My Site > Manage > Settings.
2. Select Discussion at the top.
More info here: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-moderationIf it’s hosted elsewhere, then generally you should seek help from the .org support forums (https://wordpress.org/support/) or potentially your hosting provider.

I never heard of Bluehost and i didn’t build my site, but I think it is hosted by WordPress.com.
Do get to ‘My Site’ by ‘clicking’ or ‘tapping the ‘MT Site’ icon in the top left corner of the WordPress.com. page after I login?

Let’s start with the basics so we can figure out where your site is hosted.
What is your site’s address?

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?
Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks for that information.
It looks like leelawgroup.net is a self-hosted WordPress site with GoDaddy, which is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
For assistance with this site, you should reach out to https://www.godaddy.com/help/contact-us/
With regards to any spam emails coming via the site. You might wish to install Akismet https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/akismet/ which might help to reduce those.
I hope this helps.

But, all I want to do is delete comments. It is a simple procedure I have done before, I just can’t recall how to do it. I go to a particular site and find the “comments” and delete them one at a time. I can do this myself in 3 minutes, IF I can find the place to go, although it may take longer to delete lots of spam disguised as ‘comments’ I just don’t know where to go. Can you help with that?

Hi there,
Here are links to some general resources for getting rid of comments on self-hosted sites.
Since we do not have access to the backend of your site, it is difficult for us to determine the issue, which is why going to your site host who has access, would be the best bet.
Also, for self-hosted sites, the dotorg community forums may be able to assist you with your issue:

Hope that helps.
Thanks,

Thanks for the information and I will check it out. It isn’t any problem. It is only only because my website has a section of marijuana, for some reason hookers and sex shops like to leave comments (i.e., advertising for their wares). every 2-3 months I go into the area I am looking for and delete these 100 or so comments. If I don’t it will grow too cumbersome where as 6 months later I’ll have over 1000 comments an this makes it troublesome to delete them.

I hear you.
As someone said earlier, I would make sure comment moderation is turned on Settings > Discussion so that all comments have to be approved. That way nothing will get through to the public side of your site without your approval.
Hope you get things sorted.

To show you how much of a novice I am, I can’t even find my administration section or dashboard on WordPress. It may be WP.org. How can find this. I am in WP.org also and the pics look familiar from the “Administration” dashboard. From there I think I can access ‘Comments’ and can figure it all out from there. THANKS!!

It sounds like you need more one-on-one guidance, so I highly recommend reaching out to GoDaddy for help as we mentioned previously.
Since they’re hosting your site, they also have access to those administration areas and are the best ones to help give you direction on where you can find these settings, what you need to change, and answer any other questions you might have.
You can reach them here:
