My name as a domain has been stolen!

I want this domain back but a store is using my name. I’ve contacted them and they never answer me. How can I get my name back?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

What is the domain that you want back? If you’re speaking of revessie.com, no one stole it.

That domain expired over a year ago, at which point you stopped owning it. If someone else since bought the domain after it was released by our registrar, that person is now the new owner of the domain and can do with it what they want.

All I wanted to really know is why would a shoe company want my title and name in their company’s link and their company has nothing to do with that name or title?

Once a domain is free for sale, anyone can by it. There even hasn’t to be a correlation between the new owner and the domain.

  • There are also people who buy recently expired domains for the sole purpose of selling them back to the original owners at a profit. That is why you should never cancel a domain or allow it to expire if you want to keep using it. The moment it is released by a domain provider it stops being yours and you lose all claim to that domain, unless you own a registered trademark for that domain.

I honestly thought that was the idea! I knew it. Smh. GoDaddy said that they will “do all they can to get it back for me for $69.00″ and I was like…”Nope.” Thanks for confirming what I believed in the first place. You’re awesome.
