My new account

Somehow I have created something of which I have no idea WHAT I have created. I wanted to create a webpage using a domain name that I already own through GoDaddy. I selected the free service on WordPress, or so I thought I did, and I was asked to ‘Map it’ for $13.00 a year. I chose this option and now every page I have in my account says ‘onetruthincdotcom’. I don’t want to give out my web address as ‘onetruthincdotcom’ but, rather as onetruthinc.com. PLEASE HELP! I don’t even see where to create my small business webpage or how to upload my photos of my products! Will you please also provide a Customer Service telephone number so I can speak to a live person for assistance?
Your expeditious handling of this matter would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    MaryAlice Johnson

  • Hi onetruthinc, no problem. Mapping a domain takes a few steps:

    1) Pointing the domain to our nameservers:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

    2) Buying the Mapping: https://wordpress.com/domains

    3) Waiting a few hours for your computer to recognize the changes to the domain

    4) Setting the new domain as Primary here: https://wordpress.com/my-domains

Can you ensure you’ve completed that, or if you’re stuck, let me know which step is giving you trouble?

    Hi Supernovia,
I don’t want to pay for my WordPress website. I want the FREE WordPress website service, using my own domain name I have through GoDaddy.com. I must have mistakenly chosen the pay one (Mapping?) but that is not what I want. Please help me to create a website with my domain name , onetruthinc.com, not the “onetruthincdotcom” that WordPress has created. I want my domain name the way it is: onetruthinc.com!
Thank you. Please help right away.

There is no way to map to a custom domain from any wordpress.COM blog without paying for an annual upgrade to map an existing domain.

    re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL. If you do not register a .wordpress.com blog URL first then the software supplies the dot whatever URL so you can proceed with your domain mapping purchase.

    See https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/

Your only options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Hello onetruthinc!

Like @timethief said, if you want to use a custom domain name, like “onetruthinc.com”, you need to buy the domain mapping upgrade. You can use your free WordPress.com domain, which is “onetruthincdotcom.wordpress.com”. If you want to change the name (before “.wordpress.com”) you can follow the instructions below:
