My new e-mail does not work

Why does my new e-mail not work?
I have changed my e-mail address and although when I log in I can see in details that it has been changed it won’t let me log in with it and will only let me log in with the old one or with my nickname.What is going on?
I’d really like this sorted as my old e-mail address will not exist for much longer.
Help highly required.

To access any blog you must be logged in under the exact same email account that registered the blog.
You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.
Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.
Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.
Try changing it at http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/ first.
If that doesn’t work, try Users -> Personal Settings in your blog’s Dashboard.Issues Changing your E-mail Address > http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/#issues-changing-your-e-mail-address
Note: After the change you will receive an confirmation email. Please be sure to check your spam/junk mail filter in your email client, if you cannot locate it.

I said “email account” above when I meant to say “username account”.
You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered any blog to access it.
