My old .com domain is occupied by pirates after I stopped paying the paid plan.

Why the .com website is not appearing as unavailable website or directing my visitors from the old domain to the new free version of domain which is the same as the .com was but with the ‘wordpress’ in-between? Why wordpress lets pirates take over domains that are should not be active any more? How can I get wordpress get down that domain? which actually appears as taken if I would want to reactivate it by paying for the plan I was on before. So pirates can use my old domain just for the sake of taking it??? and write some Chinese stuff??? which is obvious that has nothing to do with the original site…

If you let a custom domain address expire then eventually it is released and becomes available for anyone else to purchase and to put whatever content they wish there.
