My old domain

Hi! Yesterday I changed my domain name from adveravegan.wordpress.com to adveraellen.wordpress.com. Now I would really like to change it back but the message I get is ‘Sorry, that site has already been used!’ But nobody is using it now, it’s just my old one. Is it possible for me to get it back? Thank you so much!

Yes I was. When I write my old domain name in the input field, that’s when I get the error message.

You won’t be able to use the old name again, as step 6 in those instructions mentions. You’d be welcome to change to a new name, though. Just be careful, because you won’t be able to get the old name back again.

Ok, I see that now…. :( I misunderstood. Thought that it “might” not be able for use again and thought that was because someone else might take it. But why is it like this? If nobody else is using it, why can’t I take it back?

This is the way our system is set up. If a free address is deleted it cannot be reused for at least two years, and even after that time it’s not guaranteed that it will become available again. See:
