My old domain name redirects to gibberish sites and I want it back.

    I let my domain name expire a while ago but I’ve been thinking about getting it back. I did a domain search and wordpress says it already taken, which I knew might happen.

    Anyways, I typed the address into the web address bar and it takes me to random sites…like multiple sites, one wants me to download something and the other is a car sales site. One is a gibberish web address and the other is like car’something’.com, I forgot exactly what is was. Does anyone know what thats all about? Did someone purchase my domain and mapped it to another site? Can I get it back?
