My old (hidden) site, does it still have subscribers?
-
I have several questions.
1. I used to have 8k subscribers for my rebeccaellenkurtz blog/website. When I log in, it says it is hidden. If I reopened it, would I still have my subscribers? Would I be able to change the name to my current nonprofit? Using my name led to stalkers, which is why I shut down the site. I don’t want to use my name anymore for safety reasons.
2. I currently have a wordpress.org site on Bluehost, but my hosting expires in two days. I want to either transfer or move it to wordpress.com. How do I do that? However, it also seems that wordpress.org is connected to a wordpress.com through (email visible only to moderators and staff). The site being RebahYell.com.
3. I also have the email address, (email visible only to moderators and staff) which my rebeccaellenkurtz says is still pending in changing to the new email address.
4. I’m trying to decide what would be the best in these situations. I would love to get my subscribers back if possible, but I don’t know if they are still subscribed since I hid the site.
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I’ll be happy to help you with your questions. Please find my answers below the quotes:
I used to have 8k subscribers for my rebeccaellenkurtz blog/website. When I log in, it says it is hidden. If I reopened it, would I still have my subscribers? Would I be able to change the name to my current nonprofit? Using my name led to stalkers, which is why I shut down the site. I don’t want to use my name anymore for safety reasons.
Could you share the full link to the site? Was this a WordPress.com site or a WordPress.org site hosted elsewhere? Do you recall if your subscribers were subscribed via Jetpack/WordPress.com’s built-in subscription, or did you use a third-party tool?
If your subscribers were connected to your WordPress.com site or a WordPress.org site via Jetpack, we might still have them, and you will be able to migrate them to a new site. If we have the full link to the site, we can check to confirm.
If you used a third-party service like Mailchimp, you will probably need to look into that, as the subscribers may still be there.
I currently have a wordpress.org site on Bluehost, but my hosting expires in two days. I want to either transfer or move it to wordpress.com. How do I do that?
There are several ways you can migrate a WordPress.org site to WordPress.com.
- If you mainly want to transfer the content, you can follow this: https://wordpress.com/en/support/import/import-a-sites-content/
- If you would like to migrate the entire site as-is, with all the active themes and plugins, you can follow this guide:
If you have a website built with WordPress on another hosting provider, generally referred to as a self-hosted WordPress.org site, and want to move it to WordPress.com, use our Import Everything option. The Import Everything option will copy your existing self-hosted WordPress site to your new WordPress.com site, including your content, media, plugins, and the theme. Prerequisites A WThis will need the WordPress.com Business plan, as plugins and third-party themes are enabled on the Business plan and higher. The Business plan also comes with many additional hosting features like real-time backups, SFTP, SSH, etc.
However, it also seems that wordpress.org is connected to a wordpress.com through (email visible only to moderators and staff). The site being RebahYell.com.
I also have the email address, (email visible only to moderators and staff) which my rebeccaellenkurtz says is still pending in changing to the new email address.
Based on the information above, I’ve found a total of three different WordPress.com accounts. One with each email address you mentioned above and the @rebeccaellenkurtz one you’re posting from.
You’ll want to decide which WordPress.com account you want to use to migrate your site from Bluehost. It’s completely up to you. If it’s easier, you may want to pick an account that already has other sites on it, like your (email visible only to moderators and staff) account, which has a WordPress.com site you recently purchased.
There isn’t a way to merge different WordPress.com accounts into one, but you can move sites between them. This guide will show you how:
You can transfer ownership of a site or blog to another WordPress.com user account by following the steps in this guide. Step 1: Add the New Owner To start, invite the new owner to the site, assigning them the Administrator role: Visit your dashboard. Navigate to Users → All Users. Under the Team tab, click the Add a team member button. Select the Administrator role from the RI hope that gives you some starting points. Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.
