My own articles are commenting by themselves…

  Hi guys,

  Just had 3 comments come through into my blog – all from “myself”. As in, my previous posts have started to randomly comment on my newer posts by quoting themselves. Was there just a massive glitch in WordPress, or is something odd going on?

  What I mean is, say I made a post on 26th July and named it “Hello My Name Is”… Well, i’ve just received a comment from “Hello My Name Is” which just quotes an excerpt from that post…

  Hope this makes sense. I’m tired and a bit confused!

  Now that’s a nice-looking film blog!

  Do you think these might be pingbacks? IE on those posts, you linked to other posts in your blog and it left a snippet from the linking post at the bottom of the linked-to post? You can delete them under your Comments management page.

  It could be those yes – as each “comment” did mention what the other was about. Are these normal then? And why do they happen? I’ve seen them on other sites and haven’t thought a thing about it!
