My own domain verses the subdomains on wordpress.com

I currently have a free wordpress blog. It is a subdomain of wordpress.com. If I was to set up wordpress on my domain would I still have access to the reader section that the free subdomains have access too? The Reader section is where a bunch of blogs are listed and I can read them, like them and follow them. When I publish my own blog entry then it also shows up on the Reader Section as well. If I had my own domain and published blog posts from that domain, would they still show up in the Reader Section? Would I still be able to participate in the Reader section by reading, commenting and following other blogs?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Changing to a custom domain changes nothing but the URL of your blog (and it’s search engine ranking). It doesn’t change where your blog is hosted, the Terms of Service, or the features of WordPress.com.
