My own visits are being counted in stats–how do I make it stop?

I am quite sure my own visits to my blog are being recorded. This happens even though I am signed in and, for good measure, accessing my site via the Dashboard.

I can see it in the URL: where formerly the URL started with http://revamy.wordpress.com when I clicked on “visit site” (or “view post” or various other ways to see my home page via the dashboard), it now shows up as http://sermonsinstones.com, as if I were any other visitor to the blog, and yep, when I go back to Stats there’s a brand-new visit recorded. (Also, the “Referrers” section frequently, though not always, shows WordPress Dashboard as a referrer after such an incident.)

I tried clearing my cache and cookies (I use Firefox). No effect. This is really getting on my nerves. I would like to be able to move around my own site, logged in of course, without falsely inflating my visits stats.

I wrote to Support, got an immediate response asking for clarification (“Is this the same site as http://sermonsinstones.wordpress.com?”), replied (“No, that’s someone else’s blog”), and haven’t heard back in the subsequent 10 days, even though I wrote again inquring about progress. This leads me to think that the support crew are stumped.

I see in past topics that this has happened to others; I can’t find any solution in these various discussions. Does anyone have any ideas how to make this stop?

    Thanks!
    Amy

You need to continue with staff. On the weekends they have a much smaller crew so it might be Monday before they get back to you. You DID give them the URL of the blog you were talking about, right? They can’t do anything without that.

Please advise how to continue with staff!

I can see that they scale down on weekends–I first wrote on Friday 5/28, got a response right away, but then didn’t hear back over the weekend. It made me happy. Too many such employers don’t believe in a weekend, and it’s not as if support for one’s blog is an emergency issue.

Now that it’s been twelve days, I’m no longer so happy. I dropped them another note (referencing the number of the question) a few days ago. Still no reply. Yes, I gave them the URL of the blog.

    Sigh,
    Amy
