My pages are not showing up

  • Unknown's avatar

    I have a pretty extensive blog – http://www.heartsandhappiness.wordpress.com
I am making a new blog for a friend, and, I cannot fiure out how to get the “pages” to show up on the right side of my home page, which is actually a post.
I want pages instead of posts, like I have mine set up. Can someone tell me how to do that. Refer to my blog to see what I mean. It’s getting late, maybe that’s my problem. LOL
    Thanks for any help. :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to put the Pages widget in the sidebar. I don’t understand this question, as you already HAVE the pages widget in the sidebar. If that link is NOT the blog you’re talking about, please give us a link to the actual blog that needs the help.

The blog I am trying to create is http://www.gilleys.wordpress.com

I have a page with pictures on it that I want on the right side.
And, I will add more pages for different things (like I have on the hearts blog)

I want to remove the word Categories. I don’t think I use Categories on either blog.
    That has always confused me.

Well, just go and put a widget, any widget in the sidebar. That will clear all the widgets out. Then remove that widget and add the Pages widget.

If you use Pages, you don’t use Categories, because you can’t Categorize a page, one of the reasons Pages are not as good as Posts for SEO.

OK, I will go and try that. I hope I know how to do that. Thank you so much, if I can’t figure that out, I will be back. LOL :)

I like the pages though, because they stay there on the side, and, I want a “home” page, so, I only use one post, and, then, I can add to it as I like. I don’t want my home page to roll down the page and get lost. I’m sure there’s a better way, but, I’m not too computer smart, and, this works for me, and, I know how to go in and make changes. Thanks again.

Yes, if you want a permanent front page, there’s a better way:

    Set the Homepage

I so appreciate that. Thank you. But, I think I will leave it as it is, for right now, anyway. This works for me, and, I am afraid I will mess it up, and, my schedule will not allow for any extra, time-consuming, tasks right now.

I did get the pages to show up on the right side. Thanks again for that.

Now, my only other question (right now) is I want my “home” page to show up on the right side also, but, I can’t figure out how to get it listed there. Can you help me with that, please, and, thank you? I know it’s probably something simple, but, it has been almost a year since I set my own blog up, and, I just don’t remember. :)

I guess you mean a Home tab (link back to your home page). Go to Appearance>Widgets, activate a Text widget, and paste this in it:

    <a href="http://gilleys.wordpress.com/">Home</a>

Or (without activating the widget) create a new page and paste the above in its title box, adding a space after “Home”.

OK, I have it fixed now the way I want it. Thanks so much for your help. :)
