My paid plan did not attach to my existing free site

I have had a free site. https://bescentedbynature.wordpress.com/ I wanted to transfer my domain from squarespace to wordpress and upgrade to a starter site plan. I did the upgrade through my existing site but somehow messed it up. The upgrade made a new site. I want my free site to be the starter site.
I did manage to transfer the domain over to WordPress and transfer it to my existing site, but now it points to nowhere because my https://bescentedbynature.wordpress.com is not a paid site.
I have multiple requests for help submitted, but it takes them days to get back to me.
