My Password

  • Unknown's avatar

I tried to log in with my password, and I am 100 percent sure that I typed in correctly. However, it said that it was wrong, even though I tried twice. So I reset it, and when I tried to log in with the new password, the same thing happened, even though I was typing in my new password is exactly the way I typed it in on the reset password page. I ended up having to ask for a login link to be emailed to me, which is how I am now able to be in my account. I am positive I was typing my passwords in correctly, and my email was correct. I am on a shared computer, so I can’t stay signed in. If the app is an option, it’s not for me because I don’t have a smartphone. Is this a glitch in the software? Or should I just ask for a login link every time?

    Hi sarahpenick7322,

So I reset it, and when I tried to log in with the new password, the same thing happened, even though I was typing in my new password is exactly the way I typed it in on the reset password page.

Oh! And this is happening when you login to WordPress.com as sarahpenick7322? If so, it would be great if you could send me the following information:

    1. Does this happen in multiple browsers or just the one you are currently using?
    2. If it only affects one browser, please confirm which operating system and browser version you are using (these details can be found on supportdetails.com).
    3. Are you pasting the passwords (or using auto fill) from a password manager or typing them manually?
    4. What is the exact error message you are seeing?

    Thanks!

This is happens no matter what computer I’m using. I only use Google Chrome; Internet Explorer doesn’t really work anymore, I boycott the new Windows Edge thingy because Microsoft should just update Explorer, and I know nothing about any other Internet thingies so I don’t use them.

I don’t know how to find out that information, sorry.

Since I use shared computers (mostly in library computer labs), I manually type my password and email in.

It tells me that the password or username is incorrect. I type in my email, which the login screen says should work instead of the username.

Thanks for the reply! :) I appreciate it.

  • Hi there,

Please try logging in using your username instead of your password and see if that helps.

If you’re on a shared computer, also clear the browser cookies first, or log in using an incognito tab (on a shared computer you should actually always do everything in an incognito tab so you are automatically logged out of everything the moment you close the browser.)
