my photos

  this sounds like i’m really stupid (well…OK) but i can’t figure out how to upload phots. yesterday i clicked on the avatar message and uploaded 2 photos, neither of which i can find. today, i don’t even have the avatar message to try again. where do i go to be able to get my pictures, both new and the ones i’ve already uploaded? they are not under the the manage key. i am confused.

  You have an avatar, i see it right there. But, i don’t think the images uploaded for avatars go into our Uploads area. In order to upload photos for use on posts or pages, you have to upload them using the area on the Write page.

  You don’t have to write a page or post, just upload the picture, and it will be accessible to you through Manage->Uploads.

  Images and the avatars are seperate. You can find a FAQ on uploading images and other files here. If you get stuck on a specific point, please let us know so we can help you.

  See, this is one thing about WordPress that I’m quite annoyed by. There’s no quick link to “view your profile” from the dashboard, and the avatar doesn’t show up right away (does it go through a censoring process or what?).

  Anyways, this is my first forum post on WordPress–just wanna check whether my avatar will show up. :) I’m a WP newbie, but I’ve been blogging for many years now through Blogger.

  Welcome sassyme! Not really sure why it takes time for the avatars, but I hope we get it a little faster in the future! As for the profile link in the dashboard, it is up in the top right corner where it gives you your username and logout link!

  There’s no quick link to “view your profile” from the dashboard,

  Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile. 2 clicks.

  the avatar doesn’t show up right away

  Try doing a forced reload of the page that you’re looking at. We’ve noticed that they show up here in the forums pretty much right away. Since the file name doesn’t change, usuually it’s the borwser that’s caching the file, not wordpress.

  I understand your frustration, littlejennywren. It doesn’t make sense to me that we cannot see our own avatars but everyone else can. I’ve been going through the same problem all afternoon. Mods, thanks for the input. I’ll try your suggestions.
