You didn’t post the url for your blog. Are you referring to a wordpress.com hosted blog? If so, then have you tried the free programs for pre-sizing and optimizing your images before uploading them? There are many programs which you can use to optimize images.
Packages such as Photoshop / Paint Shop Pro will do it, but there is no need to spend money on doing this. These are free:
– Irfanview
– Picasa
– GIMP
– Photofiltre
– FastStone
– Pixia
links and details here http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/08/optimise-your-images/Also have you tried resizing the images within the WP editor? You can either click and drag the corners, click the little tree-in-a-box icon, or use the Code tab to edit the raw HTML. The latter is what i usually do when I’m having image issues.

You can also resize your images after inserting them into a page or post. Click on the image and then grab one of the corner handles and drag to resize. Using a corner handle will retain the height to width radio and not distort the image.

Sure, but it’s good practice to make the files smaller before posting or else:
* you’ll run up against your file space limit in no time; and
* your pages will be slow to load, and probably impossible to load on dial-up.
As a rule, I try to work to 50kb for image files and 25 kb for a header. That’s especially important if you have a lot of buttons and widgets in your sidebar, as I do.
For image re-sizing, I use IrfanView. I’m a big fan, and although I love Google, it’s still great to use an application which is world-class and which hasn’t yet been swallowed by Menlo Park.
As applies with WordPress, of course.

i was having the same problem and followed these instructions. I downloaded the IrfanView – no problem!, resized my picture quickly with the straightforward software (i just selected the “half” option and it automatically put it at like 72kb), and got my picture uploaded in the perfect size. The only minor problem I had was the newly sized image was saved in the wrong format so I had to go back in and save it as a .jpeg and it worked fine. THANK YOU sooooo much for the clear, concise and complete information!! YEAY!!! look, i did it!! http://glassslippergourmet.wordpress.com/
Thanks again, Kelly -
