My pictures are disappearing

  My pictures are disappearing Help.

  The missing pictures give a not-found message. Did you delete them from the media library?

  When I add media to my post, I go to my files and enter a picture and I update and it appears on the post. All is good. When I enter another one, the old one comes up and I hit that picture and it shows up on the right and I delete it. I then put the new picture in on the right. Is this wrong? Should I never delete any old pictures just let them build up ?
