My poetry formatting is messed up
-
Everything is fine until I publish my poem and look at the blog page. All the line breaks disappear causing everything to smush together. I’ve tried quite a couple things but nothing I do works.

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I believe the line breaks are automatically removed from the excerpt view of your blog post. This way more content fits into the excerpt.
One way around this is the Styling an Excerpt options:
https://wordpress.com/support/excerpts/#styling-an-excerptFind the Optional Excerpt area:

You can write an optional excerpt with the original text but put a
whereever you want a line break. So as an example it would look like this:
He learned it for my mom
But at night, when my dad practiced in front of my sister and I
It felt like he learned it just for us
I hope that helps!

Wordpress.com has the Verse Block, ideal for writing poetry, https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/verse-block/

Thanks @staartmees for this info.
I didn’t know about the Verse Block. I learned something new.
I did some testing and it seems like the Verse Block still doesn’t solve the excerpt question the OP was asking about, right? Or did I miss something?
When I used the Verse Block, in the excerpt, it still deletes the line breaks. The only way I was able to go around that if I added the optional excerpt and the
line breaks.Do you know something more about this question?
