My post deleted itself

I wrote a post and it autosaved, but I accidentally hit back and now it’s only there as an autodraft and nothing of what I wrote. It took me ages…I don’t know what to do.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What is the title of the draft post?
If you don’t see any versions of the post in the revision history, then it likely didn’t autosave properly, but if you tell us the post we can take a look.

Hi!
It was called ARC Review: The Kingdom.
I have since started rewriting the post so there is one with this name now. But my original one was started on June 20th and I was editing it last night when this happened. I don’t want to have to rewrite the whole post again so it would be amazing if you could find it!
I don’t know why but the blog I need help with is actually:
http://www.inkspitblog.wordpress.comIt posted my other old blog for some reason, sorry!

Thanks for specifying the correct site :)
The draft post ARC Review: The Kingdom currently on your site shows it was first created yesterday – there’s no revision history for that post older than 15 hours. And on your Activity page at https://wordpress.com/activity-log/inkspitblog.wordpress.com I can see two updates to that post from yesterday, but under the 20th I don’t see any corresponding entries for that post’s creation, or any work done on it. Granted, the log is limited on free sites, so we can’t see the full log for the 20th, but that would indicate the draft never got saved.
Under the 20th I do see an entry for attachment uploaded to an “Auto draft”, which I suspect is the post you were working on. But if I click on that link I get to this post, https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/inkspitblog.wordpress.com/983, which is completely empty and without a revision history.
So it would appear that the autosave didn’t actually work at all in this case, and the content of your draft never made it to our servers. This unfortunately means that there’s no way for us to recover it.
Were you using the same browser on the same device to write the post, or did you use our mobile app in any step of the process?
And did you ever close the editor to work on something else, later coming back to the post, or did you keep the browser open to the tab with that post the whole time until you accidentally exited the editor yesterday?
I’m just trying to get an idea of the chain of events leading to this, so we can try and duplicate it on our end to figure out why it happened.
Going forward, I suggest that first of all you clear your browser cache. Then after you’ve added some content to the new post, explicitly click the Save Draft option. Then open a completely different browser or log in in incognito mode, and edit the post from there, to check if the new content autosaved correctly.

Hi,
Yes, that’s what I found when I went through my activity to try and find it. It even specified I’d uploaded images to the post but nothing is there.
During writing it I did actually click save several times. I left the browser open during this time while I was working on it. I’m just really upset because I spent days working on it and now I have to try and remember what I wrote. :(No, I don’t use the mobile app as it’s hard to add links easily.
Thank-you for looking into it. -
Hi,
It just happened again. Not only had the editor crashes numerous times today but it just deleted everything I’d been working on for the last nine hours. I kept hitting save the entire time and yet everything is gone again!
It also kept saying auto saving throughout my writing. I’ve literally lost 8 hours of work.

What is the title of this post?
Above I suggested that you manually save early on, and then leave the editor to check whether it saved correctly. Did you do that before spending nine hours on the post?
What browser are you using? Do you have any browser add-ons installed that might be blocking JavaScript code or network requests? Ad-blockers and anti-tracking add-ons are the usual suspects. If so, see if disabling those make any difference.
How long ago did you last clear your browser cache? Please do that if you haven’t recently and then check what happens again.
Meanwhile I’d strongly recommend that, if you stop working on a post, both make sure you save manually, but also copy-paste the content you have at that point into a text editor as a backup, and then close your browser. Having the browser tab with the editor open for hours or even days on end, with the computer, I assume, going to sleep at times, might be contributing to this.
