Dear System people,
I posted a new blog this AM (14 August 6:27 AM EST), but it is now 9:00 EST and it hasn’t automatically appeared on Twiter, Facebook or LinkedIn. It always has previously I checked in “Tolos” –> “Sharing” and the Facrbook, Twitter and LinkedIn are ‘connected’! UGH! What’s the problem?? I have to promote this post on these social media sites Thanks, Tom O’DThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the Publicize feature. I’d love to get some information from you so we can sort this out.
First, can you confirm for me whether you’re using the new editor through the WordPress.com home page or the old editor in your dashboard?
Can you tell me which browser and version you’re using?
And can you please clear your cache and cookies?

Hello Shawna,
Thanks for getting back to meI’m using Google Chrome Version 36.0.1985.125 m
Yes! Unfortunately, I was lured into clicking on the “New Post” option at the very top right of the WordPress page I typed most of my post there initially This ‘new; editor has serious limitations, and when one wants to save it, you can only choose to click ‘preview’ as this first saves it and then gives a preview …. although it often does not actually give a preview. So, I closed this editor, and fortunately found by draft saved on my dashboard, and re-opened it in the normal editor (which is organized more to usual standards).
So, I published it from the traditional/older editor, after having saved it and previewed it a few times there.
(Now I have a serious problem in that I must get this post onto social media in the usual manner from/linked with WordPress, without having to send it again to all subscribers by e-mail if possible.)
Thanks for your assistance! — Tom O’Donnell

Thanks so much for your response! I’m glad you were able to find your way back to the classic editor. We’ve added a link to the new editor that will quickly take you back to the classic one if you prefer.
Unfortunately, we don’t trigger Publicize connections when a post is updated, only when it’s initially published. Your best option at this point is to manually share the post to your social media connections. I’m sorry about this.
When you published from the classic editor, were your social media connections checked off for Publicize? Or did they end up unchecked? If you don’t remember, that’s fine, I just want to see if there’s an additional issue with Publicize from the old editor.
Thanks so much for you patience while we sort this all out.

Hello again,
I posted from the Classic Editor. When I saw the post did not appear on any social media, I looked to make sure that the social-media were all still checked off — and they were – so that wasn’t the problem
I suspect it is that new editor. (Not clear to me why you have it?)
Yes, I did put my post manually on all the social media today.
But, will it work next time?(I’m more convinced that ever to avoid that new editor. Perhaps you could label the button “NEW/LIMITED-FUNCTION editor”. )
Thanks.
PS By the way, even though I ‘follow’ my own blog in order to see what e-mail notifications from my blog look like, they never come to my own g-mail account (not to spam or anywhere). I always have to find a friend who subscribes and see if they got it in order to verify that it went out. -
Thanks for that added information! I’ll do some testing to see if this had to do with the post being started in the new editor. Did you by chance preview the post from the new editor before moving back to the classic editor?

I just looked up your subscriptions, it looks like you never confirmed your subscription to your site. I’ve gone ahead and manually confirmed this for you, so you should start seeing your posts via email starting today.
If you don’t see an email the next time you post, can you please confirm your email settings:

Hello
Yes, I previewed it a few times in the new editor.
As I recall, there was no ‘save’ option. So I clicked ‘preview.’ When I clicked ‘preview’ the first time, it said it was ‘saving’ it and then the preview came. But after the first time, the other times the ‘save’ message came up, but it never opened another preview. That’s when I gave up and went to the tried and true editor.
Thanks very much for confirming my ‘following’ my own blog!!! I had no idea! I actually tried to check if I was following. I recall I used to be able to go to a list of ‘followers’ pretty easily. Now, i looked everywhere I could imagine and couldn’t find a way to look at a list. Is there still a way to do this?? (Apologies for more questions!)
Best, Tom O’D.

Hey Tom! Thanks so much for confirming that!
When I clicked ‘preview’ the first time, it said it was ‘saving’ it and then the preview came. But after the first time, the other times the ‘save’ message came up, but it never opened another preview. That’s when I gave up and went to the tried and true editor.
Once the Preview pane is opened, when you click preview again the pane will reload, but it will not refocus, similar to previewing in the classic editor. If you close the preview pane entirely, it should reopen the next time you click preview.
Are you experiencing something other than what I outlined above?
I recall I used to be able to go to a list of ‘followers’ pretty easily. Now, i looked everywhere I could imagine and couldn’t find a way to look at a list. Is there still a way to do this??
You can access your followers list through your dashboard. Visit “Site Stats” and scroll down to the “Totals, Followers, & Shares” module. There you’ll see a follower count with a + sign underneath. Click on that plus sign to see you follower list:

Hello Shawna,
In answer to your question: The “new editor” preview did open the first time. I then shut it. When I went to save it the following times, first of all there is no 'Save' button(!), so I clicked 'preview' … which actually says then it is 'saving' the file, but no further 'previews' opened in other tabs.
Uggh! Even tonight, when I was editing some posts (fixing broken URL's, etc.) I only clicked on 'edit' and that new editor came up. I then have to go up and click on 'open the classic editor' (paraphrase) This is a real pain. I don't really want to see that new editor. it is not very functional or useful. Can I somehow eliminate it!
Thanks, Tom

Hey Tom,
We recently deployed a change that should remember your editor preference. So, if you prefer the Classic editor and switch back using the link on the top of the new editor, WordPress.com should remember your preference. Can you let me know if that’s happening for you?
Regarding the Publicize failure, I think this is a result of moving between the two editors. For your next post, can you try creating and publishing the post from the Classic editor strictly? Please let me know if that works!
