My Post has gone missing
-
My very first post (Our Style of Love) has disappeared. It was published on 12th February and was working Monday as I did a link back to it from my latest post (Why Indies like Nora’s Inspire). I’ve searched looking at all posts but it just seems to have gone!

Hi Olivia, I see one post from February 12 titled “Let’s talk LOVE” – which is currently in draft mode:

Is this the post you’re referring to? Please let me know so we can investigate further. Thanks very much.

Thankyou for getting back to me so soon! I love it! That is an initial draft of the post, that was called Lets Talk Love but which I changed the name of to Our Style of LOVE and added pictures too etc then sent ‘Live’
I did see that when I was looking for the ‘missing post’ knowing that it wasn’t the before 2 days ago so whether ‘the system’ has lost the most recent version, ie the actual post and just kept a previous saved version I don’t know… Does this happen often?? That post is key to my blog as its the one that explains the concept of Our Style of LOVE -
Thanks for the additional information – this definitely isn’t something that should normally happen, and we’re investigating.
Could you please let me know whether you added this post originally:
a) From the WordPress.com dashboard?
b) From the QuickPress box on your own dashboard, like here? https://ourstyleoflove.wordpress.com/wordpress.com/wp-admin/
c) From the main administration area under Posts > Add New, like here?
https://ourstyleoflove.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpThanks for your help!

C)! Definitely that from my laptop. I have not made any amendments to the post since first posting it however Monday night I did a link to it on my latest blog (as I mentioned previously) ahead of the “Nora’s post being published Tuesday morning. Also Monday night I amended some of the menu/top tabs, that is all.

Thank you for the info, we appreciate it. We’re continuing to investigate.
In the meantime, please let us know if this happens again.

I think I may have found your post in the Google cache – is this it?
-
-
Thanks for confirming. I was able to copy-paste the content from Google’s cached copy and recreate the post on your site, giving it the same URL as it had before, so old links to it should now work:
http://ourstyleoflove.com/2013/02/12/ourstyleoflove/
You can tweak it here if you need to modify anything:

We aren’t sure what happened, but our developers are still investigating, as we’ve had a few similar reports. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.

Thats fantastic – great turn-around in a day – thankyou so much. The only thing I would like changing is that it is saying you are now the Author instead of myself ‘Olivia Beau’ I’ve just looked at how I can change that but doesn’t seem to be anywhere I can…
Secondly are you able to tell me ‘when’ it went missing? (Tuesday’s post just had the most ever visitors and I would like to know if it was still in place then as Tuesday’s post had a ping-back to the missing post…
-
Sorry about that – I’ve just changed the author back to you. :-)
Secondly are you able to tell me ‘when’ it went missing?
Since we don’t have a record of the post going astray, we don’t know when it may have happened – apologies.
-
That’s great thankyou so much Kathryn. Result! Let me know where I can pass my thanks on publically. Are you on Twitter?
-
That is so sweet, but not necessary, of course. I’m @zoonini on Twitter, and WordPress.com is @wordpressdotcom if you feel compelled. :-)
