My Post is Showing as a Comment

My most recent post “Feeling Springy” is showing as a comment to another post “Why You Shouldn’t Dump a Bowl of Cheerios on Your Laptop”. I got an email asking me to moderate the “comment”. I tried copying the post and re-posting it but it turned into a comment again. As a result, the sidebars are blank and don’t have any widgets in them. I’ve tried resetting the format, using a different theme and using different posting methods. This is driving me insane! I’ve been using Blogger for two years and have never had a problem like this before. Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We need a link to the site you are talking about. The one linked to your username only has two posts and no comments.

This is the url for my blog:
    http://theprocess123.wordpress.com/

Not sure why this blog isn’t showing under my profile. It shows up as one of my blogs on the dashboard or “Manage My Blogs” section.

When you view the blog as it is now, the information that should be in the secondary sidebar (and primary too I think) is showing at the bottom of the page but the format is set as sidebar-content-sidebar. I’ve changed it and reset it but it doesn’t seem to help. If you click on the title of one of the previous posts the sidebars are shown the way I formatted it.

The only difference between the older posts and the latest is the fact that I received an email saying that I had to moderate a comment by “Feeling Springy” on the post “Why You Shouldn’t Dump Cheerios On Your Laptop”. Feeling Springy is the name of the post, not a user name. I don’t understand.
    Thanks for your help
    Kristy

btw – I just changed the theme to see if that was the issue but it was not.

Any thoughts? The problem has not resolved itself. I decided to ignore the issue and write another post. I started writing and as the line ended and wrapped to the next, the text just began writing over the text from the first line. I kept typing thinking it would resolve itself but the text just kept overwriting the first line. When I tried to preview, it showed no text at all, only the image I’d uploaded. I seem to be having a lot of problems and bugs. Is this common or am I doing something wrong? I’ve written over 120 posts with Blogger for and never had any problem. I heard really great things about WordPress so I decided to give it a try.

Re the first issue: You’ve got a stray HTML tag in the post “Feeling Springy” that messes the rest of the content on your main page. Go to Settings > Writing, tick the option “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”, click Save Changes; then edit the post, make any insignificant change to it (e.g. add then remove a space) and click Update.

Re the second issue: What browser and version are you using?

Thanks justpi! That did the trick. Not sure why there were stray tags anyway since I hadn’t fooled with the HTML at all. I do find WordPress to be a lot buggier than Blogger. I have a separate website so I only use WP & Blogger for blogging.

I think part of my problem may be that I don’t have a great isp (I live on a small island and don’t have a lot of options). I think the “bulkiness” of WP causes a lot of problems for me personally that others don’t experience.

Anyway – thanks so much again for your help!!

    You’re welcome.
Stray HTML tags can crop up if you make a mistake while actually using code in the HTML editor, but they can also crop up if you make wrong moves in the Visual editor or if you introduce content copied from other sources, for instance if you copypaste from Word. Would never happen if you keep the auto-correct option enabled, so this should be one of your first moves when you start a new blog (why WP insists on keeping the default for that option to off instead of on remains a mystery to all of us experienced volunteers).
