my post/page wont save or publish

  when I click on save or publish it just continually whirs away and wont do anything. Sometimes comes up with a message that I must be offline when I’m not. Have tried changing the theme and have gone through all the plugins deactivating each one in turn to see if it makes any difference. Don’t know what else to do?
