My post was unpublished/deleted 2 days after it was published…

I completed and finished a post a couple of days ago and received traffic to that specific page. I checked the blog today and the page had disappeared. In my post list, a previous draft of that same post appears in the list, unpublished. It is a few revisions old too and is not the same version as the finished published piece. How/why has this happened and is there a way to retrieve the finished version and publish it again?

    Thanks

Hi. The title was “Interview: AnD – Kundalini EP [EDLX]”

I had to update a draft that had been saved 2 days before and re-finish the article. I think there was a more recent revision that was there but it would not let me restore it (the button was greyed out).

For some reason the publish date had been set to a different date (I think back to February). Not sure why WordPress did this.

    Thanks

As far as I can see the post was created in January, but published on Apr 8, 2014 @ 19:12. You can see the revisions at https://elevatedculture.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=757

Yes, I know. The publish date is the 8th because I changed it to that so that the post would appear back on my front page… I don’t know what happened but it was changed without my doing. When I discovered it in the edit page, the publish date was originally “To be published Xth Feb”. Not sure if this is some sort of bug?

Either way, I lost my final draft and had to recoup the changes I’d made from previous versions. This includes tags and featured image, etc.

The date of the post gets updated when you make changes to the post content.

I’m sorry you’ve lost part of your draft, it seems that wasn’t saved properly. I recommend to always use the Save Draft button on the right hand side after a change has been made.

Yes yes thanks for your sympathy but that isn’t what happened. I PUBLISHED the post (So it MUST have been saved) – people retweeted it on twitter, posted on fb, it got hits. Yet 2 days later it had disappeared and the publish date set back… You haven’t helped clear up anything. But I guess this is just an anomaly.

    Thanks anyway.

It seems some content was removed after the publish, the revision before that change can be found at https://elevatedculture.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=747

You can scroll through different post revisions at the top of that page, these are all the saved changes made on that post.

Yeah thanks. Though, as I mentioned earlier, I did go onto this page and found the revision you have linked me to. I mentioned previously that the ‘restore version’ button was greyed out so I wasn’t able to restore it. Thus having to manually update the post myself…

(if you read what i said yesterday morning… “I had to update a draft that had been saved 2 days before and re-finish the article. I think there was a more recent revision that was there but it would not let me restore it (the button was greyed out).”)

So not sure why it the button was greyed out? …

That shouldn’t happen unless the very last (current) revision has been selected. Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Safari.
