My posts blocked from tag/category feeds
-
A post I made this morning is not appearing on WordPress tag and category feeds.
This happened to my blog once before, and someone from WordPress had to fix the problem. Can someone please fix this again?
Also, can someone please tell me what has caused this to happen?
My blog is http://planetarydefensecommand.wordpress.com/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, my posts appear on my blog.
But, for some reason, they are blocked from appearing on the tag pages, such as this one:
http://wordpress.com/tag/science-fiction/This happened once before, and someone from WordPress fixed the problem. I need to get this fixed again, and to understand why this is happening.
I believe those pages are where I get the majority of my new followers, so this is a problem. I also don’t know whether my posts are appearing on my followers’ feeds.

Yes, my posts appear on my blog.
The reason I mentioned the latest post being published on April 4, is that you said one was published today, which in no time zone would have been April 4, or very close to it.
With respect to the tags issue in the Reader, I’ll flag the topic for staff attention.

Correction: You said,
A post I made this morning is not appearing on WordPress tag and category feeds.
Was it published?

I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention to the date reference.
I think you have nailed the problem.
I made a first draft of my post, which I saved on the 4th, I guess. I finished the post and published it on the 9th, but wordpress recorded it as being published on the 4th!
I scrolled way down on the feeds, and saw that my post is indeed there, but not on the day I published the article.
I’m thinking this is not the intended behavior of the software, so someone at wordpress might want to look into this issue.
Thanks again for your help!

You are right, that is not the intended behavior. I’ve been trying to replicate this issue and haven’t been able to do so in either the new or the old editor.
Which editor were you using? That will help me focus my efforts.
Anything else you can tell me about the process you used to publish the post is also useful. Did you use the mobile app for any of the work on the post? Did you add more content to the post before you published on the 9th, or was the post finished and you just clicked “publish” on the 9th?
Any clues you can send me will help us figure out what happened.
Thanks for your help!

Or was it published accidentally on the 4th, immediately switched to draft status where it remained during completion over the next 5 days, and then republished on the 9th? This would explain the discrepancy.

Liz, I can’t be 100% sure which editor I used. It’s possible I did the draft in one and published in the other. I didn’t use the mobile app. I did add more content before publishing. Another thing, I edited the post and updated it shortly after publishing, just to change the “featured image”.
Musicdoc, I didn’t know it was possible to take something from published back into draft. I doubt I did this, but I think I can determine whether this was the problem: I’ve asked a couple of my users who subscribe to the blog by email to tell me when they received the post. If I accidentally published on the 4th, then that’s when they would have received the emails, correct?

That’s a great test. They would have received an email the first time you published. If they didn’t get an email until the 9th we’ll keep digging.

I just heard back from one of my by-email followers, he gave me this date/time:

Thanks for getting back to me on that. I’ve done more tests, and I still can’t replicate the problem. Does this happen every time you start a post one day and finish it another, or was it just this one time?
If you regularly start posts one day and publish them on another day, and this is the first time this issue has occurred, it might have been a one off strange glitch. If it happens again, let me know and we’ll try again to figure out what’s up.

As far as I know, this is the only time it’s happened, although it could have happened before without my noticing.
I usually post once per week, occasionally every other week, but I’ll let you know if this happens next time.
Thanks.
